The Women’s Help Center’s Mission

WHC’s mission is to educate, encourage and empower women with resources and alternatives during unintended pregnancies. We provide a practical and compassionate response to crisis/unintended pregnancy that value the family and empower participants to make healthy choices and thrive physically, educationally, and financially.

A Client’s Testimony

A young woman entered the Center who was very distressed about the possibility of being pregnant. She was unsure about what she would do if she was pregnant. Our Caregiver administered a pregnancy test which turned out to be positive. The young woman was presented with several options and helped to thoroughly and thoughtfully explore each, including pregnancy termination. She left the office not knowing what she would do. The caregiver instructed her to call or come back if she needed us. In fact, part of our protocol is to follow-up on clients when needed. However, we never heard from her again. The entire session lasted about two hours.

About 12 months later, a young woman walked into the office pushing a stroller carrying a young male child. We thought she wanted to schedule an appointment, but she asked for a caregiver, by name. It turned out to be the same Caregiver she had seen over a year ago. Subsequently, she decided to carry the baby to term and parent her baby herself. She told the Caregiver that she was so grateful to her for taking the time to “help me sought out things”. As she thanked the Caregiver with tears in her eyes, she also informed her that she was, unknowingly, carrying twins that day and that her twin daughter was at home with her mother; and that they (her grandmother and her) cannot imagine their lives without those twins.

The Women’s Help Center’s Funding Sources

Fifty percent (50%) of WHC’s income is received through the generous contributions of Individual Donors. Twenty-five percent (25%) through Churches and Organizations who include WHC in their local missions giving; fifteen percent (15%) is derived from fundraising events, and ten percent (10%) through grants.
